Information for Patients

This site provides useful general information for patients admitted to Silesian Center for Heart Diseases in Zabrze.

We want to make patients' stay at our Center as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Our healthcare team is dedicated to anticipating and exceeding the needs of patients and their families. Our major goal is to provide our patients with the best medical service and to support them in their recovery process.

General information:

Documents required at the admission to the hospital:

- referral from the local GP

- identity card

- for patients insured - current insurance card, social security number (medical service is free of charge)

- for patients uninsured - identity card (paid service)

 Personal belongings required at the admission to the hospital:

  • personal appliances
  • pajamas (recommended botton-up tops)
  • slippers
  • bathrobe
  • underwear
  • cutlery and cup

Guidelines on bringing personal belongings:

During hospital stay professional care is provided for all our patients. In addition, for those who wish so, psychological care is available. It's commonly known that psychological support plays a significant role in the treatment process and accelerates patient's recovery.

Part of therapy of great importance is rehabilitation. In Silesian Center for Heart Diseases group of experienced rehbilitation specialists is to patients' disposal.

Hospital deposit

Having in mind our patients' good we urge all to secure their belongings. We advice patients to send personal things and all valuables (such as jewelery, watches, cash, documents) home with a family member or a friend. If it is not possible, the hospital will secure goods in its department vault. Other belongings may be stored in hosital deposit. Please ask nurse about it. You may sign for the release of your belongings at discharged.

Food

Nutrition plays an important role in the treatment process. In our Center group of professional dieticians watches over our hospital menu, introducing individualized nutrition regimen. We also provide nutrrition counseling when appropiate and promote helathy food and lifestyle.

Visiting guide

Visiting hours

At Silesian Center for Heart Diseases we recognize role of support of family and friends in patient's recovery process. However, patient's care and high quality medical service are our primary concern. Having in mind wellness and comfort of patient as well as our system of work, we have established specific visiting hours.

Weekdays and weekends, 2.00 - 8.00p.m.

For intensive care unit special visiting rules were established: one visitor at the time, visit only after previous appointment with our medical staff.

Patients have unlimited access to phone and mail contact. Public phones are located in every department, it's also possible to connect via our phone central. For permanently or temporary disabled a portable phone is available.

Other non-medical services

Spiritual Care

Spiritual Care is available for patients and families. Situated on the first floor, near ECG lab, SCCS Chapel provides a comforting welcome to all our patients, visitors and staff.

Worship service

Roman Catholic Mass is conducted by our SCCS chaplain of St. Camil Parish, Zabrze, Dubiela St.10. Tel.: +48/032 271 50 37. Services are conducted according to the information available on the board at Chapel's gate.

Shopping

A kiosk is found within the Center. It offers a wide variety of merchandise for sale, including: newspaper, magazines, beverages, snacks, cookies, personal appliances. The Kiosk, open every day, is located on the first floor, near the reception.

Patient's opinion

As opinion of our patient on the quality of our service and their stay in our hospital is one onf our major concerns we have created a special questionnaire. We urge on filling it and expressing your opinion on our hospital. All comments are very precious, on this basis we may develop and improve our service to the patient.

Patients's Rights Spokesman

Every patient who has faced some difficulies during his stay at our hospital or anyone who has noticed facts, situations which require changes and improvement, may call for assistance the Patient's Right Spokesman, Tel: +48/032 273 23 20.
